  • 300 g 300g pasta (preferably fusilli) Fusilli holds the sauce better than spaghetti.
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons olive oil Good quality olive oil makes a difference.
  • 4 cloves 4 cloves garlic, minced Use 5 cloves if you love garlic.
  • 1 tin 1 tin chopped tomatoes Preferred brand: Mutti.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon dried basil Fresh basil is better if available.
  • to taste Salt and pepper to taste Don't skip this—life needs seasoning.
  • to taste Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Use a generous handful.
  • to taste Optional: Red pepper flakes Only if you enjoy a little heat.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Make sure to season it with salt.
  2. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
  3. In a separate pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add minced garlic.
  4. Once the garlic is lightly golden, pour in the chopped tomatoes and add basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Let this simmer for about 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
