- Brown the butter by melting it in a saucepan over medium heat until it foams.
- Mix the browned butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in any extras like white chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and scoop dough onto a lined baking sheet.
- Bake until golden around the edges and soft in the middle, about 10-12 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.

If you run out of matcha, cocoa powder can be used instead. The dough can be rolled and frozen for future baking.
